Self catering holidays look set to be popular during 2011 as seen by a strong early demand for bookings at Classic Cottages. This specialist letting company based in Cornwall has more than 700 hand picked holidays cottages on their books.

Haven Holidays specialise in fun filled family hoildays based around the coast with their 35 parks. They are looking at investing almost £2m in their two parks in Berwick. This brings the total investment at Haggerston Castle to £6m over the past two years. Another indication maybe that the staycation trend could continue during 2011. Haven enjoyed a record year during 2010 even better than 2009 when the term staycation was first introduced to us. Signs for a 2011 staycation look good with bookings already ahead of the same point last year.

Also looking to expand and widen the amount of UK family holidays they offer are Newcastle based Park Dean holidays who hope to double their business in the next five years by aquisition.

Visit Wales are championning UK holidays, short breaks and weekends in Wales with a fantastic TV advert showing "the home of proper holidays" featuring the Darke family's staycation in Wales.

Moving with the times and embracing technology Visit Scotland have launched an iPhone application in association with the National Trust for Scotland and Historic Scotland. It compliments their Winter White campaign to increase awareness and popularity of days out in Scotland.

The vast majority of people who stayed in the UK for their holidays or short break were satisfied with the quality of their holiday and accommodation.
